VERBAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITY SOCIAL ACTIVITY

This song introduces the concepts of same and different and attempts to influence children to be accepting of physical differences. It refers to our bodies (our skin, hands, chin, hair, voice, and mind) and how they are the same in some ways and different in others. Have the children compare their skin, hands, chin, etc. with their partners.

VERBAL ACTIVITY

  • Have the children repeat the names and descibe the body parts, following the song's words.
  • Have the children respond to the question "What are you thinking?"
  • Discuss the final verse: "You're you - I'm me. We've got differences and similarities, I like you and I hope you like me."

MUSICAL ACTIVITY

Have the children sing along with the chorus: "We're the same inside. We love and laugh and cry. We've got hands and feet - hearts that beat - and minds that wonder why."
